Haiti cultural week opens in Hanoi

On January 12th, the first ever Haiti cultural week titled “Haiti – Live the experience” opened in Hanoi to celebrate Haiti’s National Day (January 1st) and in commemoration of the 2010 earthquake’s devastation.

The event is being held by the Haitian Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vietnam Military-run Telecommunications Group (Viettel).

The opening ceremony showed videos introducing Haiti’s tourism and gastronomy, followed by an exhibition featuring the traditional costumes and hand embroideries of the Caribbean country.

In addition, Haitian artists are giving unique traditional art performances.

The week aims to promote the beauty of the land, people and culture of Haiti as well as contribute to strengthening the friendship and bilateral co-operation in the fields of politics, economy and investment between the two nations.

It will last through January 16th
