Movitel supported flood victims in Mozambique

Movitel send 200,000 USD in aid to flood victims in Mozambique, who were suffered from the worst flood since 1971,

The aid would be sent to 6,000 households to buy food and basic commodities in the most damaged province of Zambezia. Each family would receive an aid package, worthed 500 meticais (15.40 USD) each, which included maize flour, cooking oil, bean, salt and canned fish.

Movitel also provided necessary communication tools such as internet modems and SIM cards for free to residents and rescue staffs in flood areas.

Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique and Movitel actively coordinated with the Mozambique Disaster Management Centre (INGC) to distribute the aid packages to victims.

According to the INGC , heavy rain and floods have affected the life of nearly 137,600 people in four Northern provinces of Zambezia, Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Tete.

The province Zambezia, bore the brunt of the flood, which claimed 64 lives, destroyed 4,963 houses, 378 classrooms, six healthcare facilities and 51 bridges and caused damages for 23,893 households.
